Photography

The idea for this group is for members to meet once a month to discuss various aspects of photography — with an emphasis on ‘show and tell’.

It’s likely there will be a wide range of experience. This is not intended to be a competition. Or a technology arms race. Great photos can be taken with the simplest equipment. We’ll be looking instead to provide an opportunity for mutual encouragement and learning simple principles that enhance creativity and lead to more satisfying results.

Each meeting might focus on a pre-selected theme, with members invited to present one or two photographs related to that theme. Additionally, the group could organise occasional field trips to interesting locations for photography.

Members will shape the group’s structure according to their preferences. No prior knowledge of photography is required. Just a camera of some kind. A phone camera is fine. A very wise old photographer once said, “the best camera is the one you have with you when you need it”.
