Life and Works of Thomas Hardy of Dorset
Thomas Hardy from his beginnings as the son of village builder rose to acclaim as one of the greatest Victorian novelists. He courted controversy is his writing but went on to entertain famous composer, writers and royalty at his small house in Dorchester.
This course will commence with a DVD (shown on a large screen TV) on his life in rural Dorset from birth to burial at Westminster Abbey, such was his regard. Topics that may be covered are:
- Thomas Hardy’s Wessex
- Far from the Madding Crowd
- Tess of the D’Uberville
- Under the Greenwood Tree
